Welcome to my website, and thank you for visiting. I'm a Communications and Publishing Professional dedicated to providing useful agribusiness information to clearly defined audiences.

Those reached audiences in print and digital formats, or through in-person presentations and client discussions. Professional: Being a professional is more about who we are than what we’ve done. A professional communicator is thorough and objective. He understands his audience, studies the issues and listens more than he speaks or writes. He understands that credibility with his business associates, his customers and his audience is essential and can be fragile. A professional respects individuals and follows the Golden Rule, but he knows this isn’t a perfect world. So he keeps a sense of humor that lets him be serious about his work but not too serious about himself. I strive every day to be this kind of professional. I bring three decades of experience as a reporter, editor, consultant, manager, executive and business owner. I'm curious and objective. We all need thrills from our work. I get my journalism thrills from hearing readers or listeners say, "Yes! Thank you for telling me." Extensive, varied experience For three decades, I have reported, edited, managed and owned information services. Feed and allied industries have been in the center of my work. - In 2004-2007, I served in executive and management positions at Watt Publishing Co., involved with the company’s U.S. and international feed, poultry, and pig publications and digital media. (Major roles: management, planning. Major media: magazines, e-newsletters, websites, webinars.) - Before joining Watt, I was editor and associate editor for four years at Capital Press, a weekly newspaper for farmers, ranchers and agribusiness operators in the U.S. West. (Major roles: management, editing, commentary, market research. Major media: weekly newspaper, daily e-news, website.) - I owned and operated Leidahl Communications from 1988 through 2000, providing U.S. agribusiness consulting and freelance services, and publishing newsletters such as Feed Business Report and Feed Tech Alert. (Major roles: business and product development, reporting, editing, vendor relations. Major media: print, fax, digital newsletters; special reports; project and retainer consulting.) - My journalism career started in community newspapers before I joined The Miller Publishing Co., where I served as a junior editor and editor of Feedstuffs and the Feed Additive Compendium from 1977 to 1988. (Major roles: reporting, editing, planning, management. Major media: weekly newspaper, annual reference.) - A family farm in Northwest Iowa provided my agriculture base. I don't remember when I started walking soybeans, mixing feed and watering pigs. But growing up on the farm gave me first-hand experience with rotating corn, soybeans, oats and hay to feed beef cattle, dairy cows, pigs, sheep and layers. The U.S. animal feed, feed ingredients, animal health and allied industries have been "home base" to me since 1977. I thrive on providing concise, credible information to executives and managers in these industries. My specialties and my business mission are clear: Understand the audience, develop relevant content, capitalize on technology and deliver effective information.
